The Remnant In Romans Was The 144,000 of Revelation
The Remnant (Elect) Of Romans Was The 144,000 Of Revelation
Paul wrote that the remnant (elect) chosen by grace in Romans 9 and 11 was for the "present time" he was writing, which was 57 AD.
This remnant was the 144,000 of Revelation 7 and 14 that God protected from death from the persecution and killing of believers leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
This remnant escaped Jerusalem as the Roman armies advance toward and surrounded the city, ultimately destroying it.
The remnant then carried the eternal gospel into the nations, resulting in multitudes of believers in Jesus too numerous to count.
The remnant was used by God to build the spiritual temple, consisting of believers from all nations (Ephesians 2:11-22).
The building of the spiritual temple by this remnant is much like the remnant of Ezra 9:8-9 who God chose by grace to return and rebuild the physical temple after they were exiled following the destruction of the temple by Babylon.
Today, there is no elect chosen by grace.
This elect was specifically for the time period Paul wrote - 57 AD to 70 AD.
Now, the eternal gospel continues to go into all nations so that whosoever will may believe and be saved.
